All our products are machined to exacting tolerances to ensure that your Hood furling system gives you precise sail control every time, season after season. Polished stainless steel drum covers offer unraveled looks.

CONSTRUCTION
High grade stainless steel is used throughout our products to ensure the highest possible durability, reliability and long life. Stainless steel also offers the lowest possible maintenance. Other performance materials such as aluminum, Teflon, and Delrin® are used in some components where weight saving is on important factor.

Our concept is the development of reliable sail handling systems that last season after season. We recognize that maintenance offshore is difficult and build our systems to be virtually maintenance free.

If you race and cruise, our new split drum furlers enable you to quickly convert between a racing headstay and furling system. Whether coastal cruising, crossing oceans or racing around the World, our Worldwide Dealer Network offers the sailor service and security.

BEARING SYSTEMS
The most important components of any furling system are the bearings. Over 35 years we have developed, what we believe to be, a range of the most reliable bearing systems available to sustain the high loads imposed by the rotational force of furling and reefing.

Stainless steel ball bearings are utilized because they do not deteriorate or compress. Non-load bearing Torlon balls are alternately inserted as spacers. These stainless steel and Torlon balls are held in place by a spherical stainless steel housing to offer the ultimate in high load, low friction bearings.

Halyard swivels have also been developed to become industry leaders. This patented double swivel system ensures that correct halyard tensions can be achieved irrespective of the high torsion loads. Tack swivels rotate fully 360°, a Hood patented feature.
